Abstract
It is known that in our homeland the family upbringing of children has since ancient times been the only form of social upbringing, and the appearance in society of educational institutions - kindergartens and schools - led to the problems of bringing up children in the family being relegated to second place. All the ideas and views that took shape in the theory of pedagogy had initially arisen in family upbringing. Scholars did not see a difference between family and school upbringing; the conclusions reached and the generalisations made were regarded as the product of general pedagogical experience. The article studies family upbringing and its pedagogical characteristics.
