Abstract
This study examines, from a theoretical perspective, the economic essence of introducing resource-saving technologies in cotton production, a system of indicators for assessing them, and the economic and institutional factors that influence their adoption. Resource saving is defined as a reduction in the amount of resources used per unit of output while yield and quality are maintained. The paper proposes cost per unit, net income, profitability, payback period and net income per unit of resource as the core efficiency indicators, and it distinguishes farm-level savings from society-level savings.
